How this site is built to be usable, where it still falls short, and how to tell us.
Last updated 4 October 2026
Brave Renewal is for people in the middle of something hard. The last thing anyone in that position needs is a website that fights them. We want this site to be usable by everyone, including people using screen readers, keyboard navigation, magnification or reduced-motion settings.
What we have done
- Text and background colours across the site are tested against the WCAG 2.1 AA contrast minimum, and body text is set well above the minimum size.
- Every interactive element can be reached and operated with a keyboard, with a visible focus indicator. A “skip to content” link is the first thing a keyboard user reaches.
- The menu can be opened, navigated and closed with the keyboard, including the Escape key, and announces its state to assistive technology.
- Headings follow a logical order, landmarks are used for navigation, main content and footer, and the page language is declared.
- Images that carry meaning have descriptive alternative text; purely decorative imagery is hidden from screen readers rather than read aloud.
- Form fields have visible, permanently associated labels, and required fields and consent choices are announced rather than implied by colour.
- If your device is set to reduce motion, the site respects it. The intro animation, parallax, moving bands and reveal effects are switched off and the custom cursor is replaced with your normal pointer.
Where we know we fall short
We would rather say this plainly than claim perfection.
- The site uses a decorative custom cursor on devices with a mouse. It is hidden for anyone using reduced-motion settings, touch or a keyboard, but it may still be unhelpful for some people.
- The opening animation holds for about three seconds on first load. It can be skipped by scrolling, and we are happy to shorten or remove it on request.
- Some photography is large and may be slow on a weak connection.
Tell us
If any part of this site is difficult for you to use, please tell us — it is the only way we will know. Email marli@bravecompanies.com and describe what happened and what you were using. We aim to respond within three business days, and we will always offer another way to get the information or begin a conversation.
This statement is reviewed whenever the site changes substantially.
